Switch To India (โ€œweโ€, โ€œusโ€) is an independent brand-ownership information platform operated from India. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we protect it, and the rights you have under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (โ€œDPDP Actโ€) and other applicable law. It applies to switchtoindia.in and all associated tools and APIs.

1. Information we collect

You can browse most of the site without an account. Depending on how you use it, we may collect:

  • โ€” Account data: if you register, your email address and any profile details you provide. Authentication is handled through our infrastructure provider (Supabase).
  • โ€” Payment data: if you buy a paid plan, payments are processed by Razorpay. We receive confirmation and transaction identifiers only โ€” we do not store your card, UPI, or bank details on our servers.
  • โ€” Bill / receipt data: when you use bill analysis, the content you upload is processed to identify brands and their owners. This is tied to your account only if you are signed in.
  • โ€” Newsletter data: if you subscribe to our digest, your email address, until you unsubscribe.
  • โ€” Correspondence: messages you send us (support, corrections, contact form).
  • โ€” Technical & usage data: limited, largely non-identifying information such as device type, browser, approximate region, pages visited, and error diagnostics.

2. Cookies & consent

We use a small number of essential cookies required for the site to function (for example, keeping you signed in and remembering your cookie choice). Non-essential analytics and error-monitoring are loaded only after you consentthrough our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the โ€œCookie preferencesโ€ link in the footer, or through your browser settings.

3. How we use your data

  • โ€” To provide and operate the Platform and the features you request.
  • โ€” To process payments and manage your plan and access.
  • โ€” To send you the newsletter if you subscribed, and to respond to your enquiries.
  • โ€” To maintain security, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors (subject to your cookie choice).
  • โ€” To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising profiling.

4. Third-party processors

We share data only with service providers that help us run the Platform, under appropriate safeguards:

  • โ€” Supabase โ€” database, authentication, and storage.
  • โ€” Vercel โ€” website hosting and delivery.
  • โ€” Razorpay โ€” payment processing (PCI-DSS Level 1).
  • โ€” Sentry โ€” error and performance monitoring, loaded only with your consent.
  • โ€” Email provider โ€” to deliver transactional emails and the newsletter.

Some of these providers may process data on servers located outside India. Where that happens, we rely on the providers' contractual and security safeguards to protect your data.

5. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Account and related data are retained while your account is active; if a paid period ends your account reverts to the Free Plan and your data is retained so you can continue using it. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. You may ask us to delete your account and associated personal data (see your rights below).

6. Your rights

Subject to the DPDP Act and applicable law, you may:

  • โ€” Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • โ€” Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • โ€” Request erasure of your personal data.
  • โ€” Withdraw consent (for example, cookies or the newsletter) at any time.
  • โ€” Raise a grievance about how we handle your data.

To exercise any of these, or to raise a grievance, email hello@switchtoindia.in. We aim to respond within the timelines required by law.

7. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to address issues promptly if they arise.

8. Children

The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or legal obligations change. The โ€œLast updatedโ€ date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be communicated where required.

10. Contact
