About

We built a database to answer one simple question: who really owns the brands Indians buy?

Switch To India is a free, independent database of brand ownership in India. We track who ultimately controls the brands you see on shelves โ€” not just the Indian subsidiary name, but the parent company and country behind it.

Public

Awareness for buyers

Most Indians don't know that familiar brands like Maggi, Surf Excel, or Lays are foreign-owned. We make that visible.

Markets

Signals for founders and investors

Find categories where Indian brands are absent or weak โ€” and where there's a real opportunity to build.

Infrastructure

A dataset for institutions

Researchers, journalists, and policy teams can use our structured ownership data to analyze market concentration and economic flow.

How we work

Neutral in wording, rigorous in structure

We compile ownership data using public disclosures, company records, filings, and official websites. The goal is to present factual, structured, comparison-ready information without hiding complexity or dressing data up as opinion.

What we avoid

Trust comes before monetization

We do not alter ownership data or mix paid placement with factual classification. Sponsored brand alternatives are clearly labeled and separate from the neutral brand database. Revenue comes from Pro subscriptions and transparently disclosed advertising โ€” never from distorting the data layer.
